![]() | Alex Haughton Alex Haughton is the founder of Andrews Community Radio and an avid fan of classic rock from the 60's and 70's. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Alex' interest was cultivated from an early age by keeping his transistor radio constantly tuned to WAYS 61 AM. The station known as BIG WAYS, featured a great mix of pop, rock and R&B. "To me WAYS was the ultimate example of a great radio station because they played an excellent variety of music with very little repetition. You could listen all day enjoyably" says Alex commenting on his fond memories of the station. Alex has always had a keen interest in music, electronics and broadcasting. These interests evolved into a longstanding vision of managing a community radio station staffed by volunteers who have a passion for creating and producing their own radio programs. This vision has become reality with Andrews Community Internet Radio Station. "When you have a group of talented and enthusiastic volunteers contributing their talents toward a common goal, the end result is something spectacular." I am fortunate and grateful for all the help and guidance the people of Andrews, North Carolina has supplied for this station.
![]() | Ed Cloud Ed Cloud has been asked to assume the position of assistant station manager for Andrews Radio Station. We feel fortunate that he has accepted the position. Ed was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Missouri just south of St. Louis where radio station KSHE rocked. From those early years on, there has been a love for music and entertaining which included being the front man for a classic rock band for a short time. Upon graduating from high school Ed joined the military and feels fortunate having the opportunity to serve his country. While serving the United States, the door was open for listening to the trends in music from all over the world. Due to being stationed on an aircraft carrier Ed was able to sample the music "cuisine" of the Mediterranean, North Atlantic and the Caribbean. Besides the international locations he has lived in seven different states. When it came time to settle in one place, Ed selected an area just outside New Orleans and started a professional disc jockey service. He also hosted and emceed at the area's hottest karaoke club. Unfortunately, 2005 Hurricane Katrina forced Ed, his wife Terri, daughter Denae and son Spencer to leave the New Orleans area and move to western North Carolina to be near Terri's family. Upon arriving in WNC Ed accepted a radio sales position at WCNG/WCVP allowing him to apply all those years of experience with music. A series of promotions in a short period of time moved him to the top position in sales. Due to the strong desire to be more involved with music, Ed elected to switch to an on-air dj slot on nights and weekends. There were no problems proving his expertise in this position including building a fan base. With a little bit of time his job responsibilities expanded to doing remotes , calling football games, doing countdown shows and other promotions. His fan base continued to grow as he accepted the afternoon shift position at the radio station. Recently Ed left WCNG/WCVP focusing on his professional disc jockey service and being active in the community. Upon being offered the assistant station manager position he expressed excitement to be associated with Andrews Radio. As our new assistant station manager said "I have been blessed with many opportunities and adventures in my life and it's great to be a part of this station". We regret loosing Donna Day as assistant station manager but anticipate a continuation of great things happening at out radio station.
![]() | Miss Donna Day Miss Donna Day began her career in radio at age three. That was the day she sang to an audience of more than three thousand people. When the producer of the live radio broadcast placed her atop a stack of cola crates and lowered the microphone as far as it could go, Donna remembers seeing not only thousands of faces but also the BIG, ROUND MICROPHONE. "It covered my whole face!" she recalls. "The producer coached me by saying, 'Honey, just aim right into that microphone. Wait for the applause. Take a bow." Performing on the radio that night changed her life forever. Radio is still her favorite medium! Since that time, Miss Donna has continued performing professionally on radio and stage. This includes spending many hours writing radio commercials and jingles. Despite traveling and performing all over the United States and Canada and dealing with the rigors of being "on the road" with the family, she completed her college education in theater arts, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a specialty in scriptwriting.

![]() | Lisa Russo Lisa Russo grew up in Sarasota, Florida but heard the mountains calling her from a young age. After trying out the other side of the mountain for a while Lisa and her husband decided to venture on to these parts and settled into one of Andrews' neighbors, Robbinsville. Once settled, she and her husband started on the journey of raising children. They have two young children, a boy and a girl, whom they home school. Lisa has a bachelor's degree in human development and has a lot of fun watching her children grow and develop. Although Lisa is not a "certified expert" she is a stay-at-home mom who understands that being a parent is a work in progress. There's always room to grow and be better. Through Healthy Kids, Happy Kids, her goal is to learn more ways to be a great parent and maybe help a few others along the way.

![]() | Randy Hogsed Randy Hogsed has spent his entire life in and around Andrews, North Carolina. He, like so many others, has listened to the radio over the years and realized the disappearance of the 60's, 70's and 80's classic rock. Randy and his wife, Robin, are busy raising two children, holding down jobs and keeping up with family members and friends. In addition to this, Randy dedicates numerous hours promoting the station and encouraging community members to share their valuable memories and abilities with the radio station. When the station began, Randy acted as assistant station manager. Over a period of time, he found that he could better serve the station in a public relation position. The station appreciates Randy's dedication and creativeness in spreading the word about Andrews Radio.
